City of Bloomington, Illinois
Home MenuAs part of the Community Enhancement Division the Code Compliance staff's primary goal is to keep the City of Bloomington a healthy, safe, and beautiful place to live. Community Enhancement staff are responsible for the implementation of many sections of the City's adopted Code of Ordinances. Ordinances are local laws which exist to promote our community standards, safeguards, and protect housing investments for future years.
Typical Complaint and Enforcement Process
- A residential compliance issue is received and entered into the city's system. An inspector verifies and documents any violation(s).
- A compliance order is issued. The owner of the property is given a specific number of days to resolve the compliance issue.
- A re-inspection occurs. If compliance is achieved, the complaint entry is closed and no further action is needed.
- If compliance is not achieved at the time of re-inspection, a violation notice along with a summons to appear in the City of Bloomington Administrative Court is sent to the owner.
