Welcome to the City of Bloomington Human Resources Department. The City of Bloomington is a growing and prosperous community in central Illinois located 130 miles southwest of Chicago. The surrounding area has a population of approximately 150,000. Our community is home to two universities, several well known large employers and boasts excellent school and health care systems. A wide variety of entertainment, sports, arts and other activities provide a relaxing and well-rounded atmosphere.

The City employs approximately 770 employees of which 526 are full-time. Applications for full-time employment are only accepted when a position is available. Seasonal applications are accepted throughout the year. Positions include Lifeguards, Day Camp Counselors, Golf Course Starters and Rangers and Seasonal Laborers for the Refuse, Streets, Water, Park Maintenance and the Golf Courses. The majority of seasonal positions are filled between April and July. Applicants are encouraged to apply in February.
