Tom Crumpler

Tom Crumpler was elected to represent Bloomington’s Ward 9 and was sworn in on May 1, 2021.

Tom was raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and attended Western Kentucky University and University of Louisville. Tom taught high school English in Columbus, Ohio, while completing his PhD at The Ohio State University. He joined the faculty of Illinois State University in 1999. While at Illinois State, Tom directed the Borg Literacy Center, which provides literacy programs to children throughout Central Illinois. 

Tom and his wife have lived in two unique Bloomington neighborhoods. First, they restored a historic home on Franklin Park near downtown Bloomington, winning the 2009 Beautification Award from the city. They built their current home in Estates of Eagle View in 2014. They enjoy gardening, biking, and traveling.

Tom looks forward to serving the citizens of Ward 9 and Bloomington as a member of the Bloomington City Council.
