The purpose of Notarization is to prevent fraud and forgery. A Notary acts as an official and unbiased witness to the identify of the person who comes before the Notary for a specific purpose.

Your document must have a notary certificate statement included. Per Statute, we cannot notarize documents without the certificate wording. Unless they are personally known to the notary, anyone whose signature is to be notarized on a document must present a valid (unexpired) photo ID issued by a state agency, federal government agency or consulate, which bears the signature of the individual.  The City does not notarize items already signed, incomplete forms, or photocopies of identifications.

The City does not offer electronic or virtual notary services.
