About
The Bloomington Police Department services a diverse community of 80,000. Our sister city, Normal, has around another 50,000 residents. The department is allotted 133 sworn officers who respond to 64,918 calls for service in 2023. The area is home to several large corporations such as State Farm, Grow Mark, Country Companies, Rivian, and Ferrero Chocolate. The area is also home to several large colleges and universities including Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan, and Heartland Community College. While we have no education requirement, the proximity to numerous colleges is great for the City's 100% tuition reimbursement program.
Our mission is to work in partnership with the community members of Bloomington to enforce the laws and to enhance the quality of life in our community.
It is this partnership which will allow for collaborative problem-solving, crime prevention, and safer neighborhoods. Public safety is our primary and most important mission, while ensuring the well-being of every person in our town. This agency is committed to constitutional policing strategies and transparency while employing the best practices to maintain a safe community. The community's support in these endeavors is necessary as the men and women of this professional agency work to increase trust, surpass expectations, and positively impact life safety matters in Bloomington, Illinois.
